Samantha Kanter is a dual major in Art, with a concentration in Photography, and Multimedia Studies, with a minor in Business. Growing up on Cape Cod she was exposed to art at an early age, but did not find her specific artistic focus until she entered Northeastern as a general art student in 2004. Photography is relatively new to Samantha, but it took over quickly as a major focus once it was introduced to her in a demanding intro photography class taught by Neal Rantoul. Venice is not only her first trip to Europe, it is also her first experience with digital photography, but she carries her film values with her as she continues to shoot primarily people and their interactions with one another.

As a former black and white enthusiast, Samantha has found growing optimism as she ventures into digital color for a completely new look in her work. The trip to Venice is giving her vast experience in photography as well as European culture, both which contribute to her interest and involvement in the program. Venice will also help prepare her for her upcoming participation in the co-op program beginning summer 2 in which she will be employed as a studio art class coordinator at the Museum of Fine Arts, a photographic assistant to Tanit Sakakini, and photography intern at the Photographic Resource Center.
