Christine Benedix
Christine Benedix has just completed her middler year at Northeastern University as a graphic design major. As a designer, her courses have been heavily based in typography and graphics, but she has always been interested in photography as well. After taking photo 1 she fell in love with photography and the process of working in a darkroom, which was a pivotal point for Christine, driving her to pursue a minor in photography. At her first co-op, last summer, Christine worked at CSN Stores, an e-commerce company, as an image and product marketing specialist. She worked primarily with Photoshop and became interested in utilizing the formal techniques she had learned during her co-op for her ideas to fulfill her own artistic vision.
Christine has always enjoyed taking photos while traveling and wished to study abroad during college. When the incredible prospect of studying abroad in Venice for an entire month was presented, she decided it would be an amazing opportunity to grow as both an artist and a photographer.
Christine enjoys shooting in color and black and white, both architectural elements and natural forms. She has a design and photographic interest in representing reality in a more abstracted way, which she explored in her Photo I abstract architecture study of Boston. This is a visual concept, which Christine is exploring further while here in Venice and hopes to incorporate into her final project for the still digital class.
