Accomodations
Complementary breakfast is offered every morning from 7:30-9:30 with fresh pastries, cereals, juices and various coffees. After a quick breakfast, most classes were held in the monastery's library at 9 am. The classroom is very large with plenty of electrical outlets and a large screen for presentations and slideshows.
It is not difficult to make the 1:30 am curfew at Don Orione because it is very close to the night time gathering spots and most students are relieved to get into bed after a long day of classes and shooting.
The living quarters at Don Orione are clean, comfortable and more than we could have asked for. The monastery is newly renovated with modern amenities and is home to one of the only elevators in Venice. Each dorm room has three twin beds with linens, ample storage space and a private bathroom complete with towels and a hair dryer. The staff is very friendly and helpful with directions, restaurant suggestions, and the occasional lost room key. Located on the Zattere, the Don Orione is a close walk or boat ride to Venice's main attractions. It is also conveniently located near an ATM, the Billa grocery store, a photo shop, and payphones. There is a telephone available in each room that should be used with a phone card to avoid being charged.
