After completing her second year as a graphic design major at Northeastern University, Katie Gavenda was excited to hear about the opportunity to study in Venice. Originally from Cranbury, New Jersey, she has never traveled to Europe and is thrilled to be in such a beautiful place for four weeks. Prior to college, her artistic experience was limited to studio art classes in high school, but once at Northeastern, her typography and design classes encouraged her to look at forms and composition.
She plans to come away from the photography and art classes in Venice with a greater knowledge of these elements, and an eagerness to apply new creative skills to her future design work. She enjoys shooting in black and white as well as color, and is partial to photographing architectural and natural forms, but is looking to expand her horizons in a new place. She is hoping to develop her digital photography skills while enjoying Italian customs, food, and culture.
