Courtney Kivel

Courtney Kivel is a rising senior and a candidate for a Bachelors of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience. After graduating, she hopes to attend medical school with the goal of becoming a Pediatrician. During her college career, Courtney has been involved with several musical groups, singing throughout New York, her home state. She also rode for the Fairfield University Equestrian team before transferring to Northeastern and is currently Treasurer of the Northeastern chapter of the American Medical Student Association.

Courtney had always been interested in other creative outlets, such as the study of music and voice, but had never been involved with photography until the Venice study abroad program. After traveling extensively through Europe the previous summer, Courtney realized her passion for travel and planned to return to further explore Italy. The Venice study abroad program provided the perfect chance to not only reacquaint herself with Italy, but also the opportunity to explore a new creative outlet in amazing surroundings. Initially the prospect of enrolling in an intensive photography class without any prior experience was daunting, however the incredible faculty and supportive peers have made for a great learning experience. Courtney has come away with a deeper understanding of Venetian culture, incredible new friends, and a body of work and knowledge of photography that has far exceeded her expectations.
